I think most of the people intend to buy the singing bowl to practice meditation; only a few of the people buy it to show case in their living rooms or in other places. The people who buy it with the purpose of practicing meditation will practice meditation for sure but this doesn't continue for long and lastly, the bowls will be placed in the show case. As time pass by, the bowls need to be cleaned in order to maintain its quality and physical beauty.

We must be focused on the different aspects when we think of cleaning the bowls. First we should be aware of not to build up the dirt on the surface of the singing bowls; next one is to clean the singing bowls in the definite interval of time, and lastly to polish the singing bowls to make it feel like the new one.

Wiping the singing bowls with dry soft cloth should be done quite frequently. This continuous cleaning will wipe off the settled dirt from the surface of the bowl. This process not only helps to look the bowl clean but also helps to minimize the possibility to develop a tarnish since dust nowadays may contain chemical and moistures when coming into contact with brass and bronze materials leads to corrode.

Even though we clean the bowls with dry soft clothes in regular interval, we can additionally clean the singing bowls with detergents/ vinegar in order to remove any harsh dirt and fingerprints. For this kind of cleaning, we can dip the singing bowls with hot or warm water along with detergent or vinegar and leave it for overnight and then next morning rinse with the clean water. Finally, wipe it off with dry soft clothes.

If the singing bowl has already developed tarnish in the surface of the bowl, and you would like to clean that tarnish then you would probably look for some metal cleaner in the market.

Remember that some of the bowls might develop tarnish with the time due to the cleaning process. It's mainly due to the droplets of water being deposited or remained on the surface of the bowl. So it's highly recommended to dry off completely when washed with water.

Not all of the people would like to clean the bowl if it develops the tarnish in its body. It's mainly because they would like the bowls to look antique singing bowl as it is. This is also fine because the option of cleaning depends on the bowl owner and it's their decision.

After cleaning the bowl, some of the people would like to polish it to have a shiny bowl. In this case, the people can use vegetable oil or metal polisher.

The cleaning process for crystal singing bowls

crystal singing bowls

While Tibetan and Nepali singing bowls are made up of metals, crystal singing bowl is made up of 99% silica. Therefore, it is the most dedicated instrument. With appropriate maintenance, we can restore the beauty of this singing bowl for the lifetime. While cleaning the bowl, we need to use distilled water instead of regular water. Along with distilled water, we can use moderate soap or detergent for cleaning. After that rinse with the water. We can use the soft bristle brush to clean off the water.

If the bowl has stubborn areas then the best and easiest method to clean those areas to do the steam cleaning. It also helps to maintain the beauty of the bowl.

The regular cleaning with dry soft cotton helps to wipe off the settled dust on the surface of the bowl.

Storage condition of singing bowl

Cleaning helps to remove any dirt on the surface of the bowl but the nature of storage condition of the bowl also has effect in the maintenance of the bowl. If the bowl is kept in the condition that is prone to dust and dirt then obviously the bowl will corrode. So in order to maintain the good condition of the bowl, we must focus on the certain areas.

First, the bowls should be kept above the cotton cloth even in the showcase. This helps to prevent to come contact with the base of the show case and the bowl. Second, it's better to have the show case with the glass door since it will be easily viewed and the outer dust will not be able to contact with the bowls.

Therefore, if we give some time to clean and maintain the singing bowl that we bought, then we can restore the life of it for ages.
